20 month old independent sleeper now gone!
« on: February 12, 2014, 16:06:42 pm »
For over 1 week without reason my dd3 has started to scream when we put her down and leave her side for nap and bdetime.  She's always been brilliant ie put her down and go.  Now she will scream and rock the cot for 20 mins at least.
I'm not staying in her room, I refuse to but am literally outside by the slightly ajar door so she can see me and say 'it's ok bedtime, mummy's here'.  I tell her to lie down and she will and when she doesn't i go into the room and she lies down but then as I leave she gets up. Generally she will stay down as long as she can see me.

My husband can not do bedtime as she screams for longer and at least I can settle her
PS she recently refused her bedtime milk, but even then she was settling ok and that doesn't correlate with her nap.

(on top of EWs of 10 months I don't want this other issue :(

Hi hun, did she got through the 18M SR? If not that could be this. Even if she did she could have a bit of seperation anxiety going on. This happened with my DS and still occasionally does. If DH is home with me and tries to do BT and I'm here all hell breaks loose. But I act like I'm leaving and step out and DH brings him upstairs all is fine and DS goes down with no problems. He only acts like that at BT when it's me doing it. Is this similar to you?

Oh sorry yes the 18month sleep regression was the worst. Its different for every child some can be very short others long. Mine went from 17-19 months. But the seperation anxiety at bt was wherw it manifested.  Babysitter and DH had no issues but if I did bedtime I could not leave the room or all hell broke loose. I juat rolled with it as it didnt affect his night sleep at all. And it sort of petered out.
