My DD has been following a EASY routine since she was 3 months old but recently our routine has been thrown off and pls pls help me fix it. The following happened which I think it contributed to it all:
1) She started walking 6 weeks ago
2) She was teething and had a week of bad sleep at night
3) She may (not certain tho) be on way to 2-1 nap
4) we have had visitors staying for 2 weeks

She still naps during the day but will sometimes have 1 nap and sometimes 2. I dont know when I should get her to nap as her night sleep has been so bad, so I just put her down when I see she is tired. She used to sleep 11 hours straight and then the teething started and it triggered all the night sleep problem. Her teething pain has subdued but she is still waking 1-2 times a night and wanted to be held. The second I tried to put her down she would be wide awake and stand up crying, and the minute I held her she will be asleep again. I sometimes ended up holding her for over an hour or 2.

Please pls help me fix the routine, my husband and i are losing our mind.... :'( What should I do to fix the night sleep and should I transition her to 1 nap????

She goes to bed at 8:30pm and gets up between 7-8am.

Thanks!!

Hi there,
Could you post the times you are trying for a nap so we can see what might be going on..it would be useful to see how long she usually naps for too.

It has been all over the shop recently but the last 2 days she has the following sleep times:

7:30 wake time
10:30 nap (40 min)
2:00 nap (1:45 min)
8:30 bedtime

6am cry and held her for an hour
7:15 am proper wake time
10:30am unsuccessful naptime
2pm (1:40min)
8:30 bedtime

I have been thinking, maybe I should just transition her to 1 nap at 1pm?? Last night, she was up at 12:15 and then at 5am, the night before at 1:45 and I held her for 2 hours and then she was up at 6am again. I do not know what to do to help re-set her sleep habbit.

Please help, thanks.

You could try for a nap at 1pm for sure but we went down to a 20 min am nap before we cut it out completely. Do you think teeth are causing this or is that over now?

I tried to put her to nap this morning but it didnt work, so she went down at 12:45 for her nap, will see how long she can nap.

It started with teething but I think it is gone now but the night sleep is still horrible... any ideas how to fix this? We are going crazy with no sleep.

well first off I would be trying pain meds to see if that helps as if it does it would point towards some form of discomfort.

then if she is flat out refusing 2 naps I would put her down like you did around 1pm ish and let her nap up to 3 hours.

like you mentioned above there are a few things that are/have been going on recently..it could be any one of these or a combination but if 2 naps is causing issues then aim for one and let's see how she goes.

when we first went to 1 nap DD would not nap more than 1.10-20 and it stayed like that for a couple of months so we did EBT's. 2 hours is great, it really is :)
