First night with a gro clock - 22 month old
« on: March 18, 2014, 19:29:45 pm »
I'm nervous lol, we read the book a few times and he's gone to bed after we turned mr sunshine into mr star and I've set it for 6.15am which is an average of his WU time as varies from 5.30-6.30.

Does seem bright as he's used to pitch black so I'm worried that will wake him!!

Any great stories for it working at this age?x

I got one a few months ago for my DS - a chronic 5.30am waker  :P - I was worried about the light too cos his room is pitch black and one of the lovely BW Mummies told me that you can turn the light off. It does mean that they can't see how many stars left when they wake up but I didn't think he'd understand that bit anyway - I just told him he had to wait for the sun. Good luck  :-*

Oooh thanks for that, I've got it turned really low on the brightness so I'll see if he wakes up in the night, if he does I'll switch it off tomor x

Oh and forgot to say that it has helped us - it hasn't given me the 7am WU that I dreamed of LOL but things have improved.

He now wakes on average btw 6-6.30am and he chats / sings to himself and his monkey until the sun comes on at 7am - then he will shout 'Mummy sun there now' - which is so much nicer than a couple of months ago when he would wake at 5.30am and would immediately shout 'Mummy out now' followed by 'Mummy out now PLEASE'!

My DS has just turned 2 and I got it as a Christmas pressie for him (lucky boy  ;)) so we probably started using it around 21 months - I too read the story a lot and would ask him what he had to wait for (sun) and what the stars meant (sleep) - he did seem to 'get it'. He now asks 'where sun' when he goes into his room if it's not on and always says goodbye to it before nap and BT - and hello to the star  :)

^^^Just seen Becky's response - she told me about the light!  ;)

We have gbe light off too. R's never had a night light so I was loathed to have one when we started to use the gro-clock at 24m. It seems to work
Well, she see the star as she gets into bed and ten knows it's morning when Mr Sunshine beams x

I ended up leaving light on and not a peep till 5.15am so we stayed in room till sunshine came on. Think he's suffering with teeth at min as very quick to tears and temper.
But I'm defo turning light off tonight..x

FX it works for you - I did the same. Stayed in room til sunshine came on and then after a few days I just said (from outside the door) 'the sunshine is sleeping, Mummy is still sleeping'. I always made a big song and dance when I went it and saw the sun too! Not sure when it clicked for him but he almost never calls before the sun comes up now - even if he is awake (which he is the majority of the time!  ::))

Thanks :-)
I'm hoping he gets the hang of it, he's very clued up for his age and kept saying new clock this morning. He is very spirited though too so I'm sure I'll get a lot more out now mummy before it works lol x
