This has to be 2 yr SR.....going insane!!
« on: May 03, 2014, 18:47:20 pm »
Hi
DS is 2 in 3 weeks and sleep has gone to pot! EW sometimes 4.30 and will not go back to sleep, can't get him to sleep at BT! He's still awake now after a 15 hour day for gods sake just won't settle as soon as I leave the room it's massive meltdown! This has been going on for about 2 weeks now and can't see 2 he molars....I'm lost!
Was capping nap at 1.5 hour but now letting nap 2 hours! He's happy as you like all day, talking like mad!
Just feel like I'm loosing it and starting to worry about his sleep!!
How long does this one last if it's SR!
Day was 6.15wu
Nap 12.30/12.45
BT 7.15

Hi hun I'm thinking push that nap to 1. Believe it or not I rebelled for weeks on pushing it back 12:30 but it worked and then I had to start capping at 1.5hrs . It could just be developmental. Is he just yelling or outright crying? Mine will yell for a bit but i just yell up the stairs to hush or lay down (in a nice way) but unless he's full on crying I refsue to go back in his room at all as he just gets hysterial thinking i'm going to take him out.  Occasionally I had to sit outsie his room and shush from the hallway unti lI heard him settle down but that didn't last too long.. the 18m SR was awful for us. Lasted 2 months 17-19M.

I would think though after a 2hr nap He may not be ready for bT by 7:15

I'll try pushing nap, I did get it to 1 for 1.5 hours but then had a run of short naps at daycare and a cold then it's gone bad again!
He's full blown screaming my name and crying...maybe SA in there too!?! Is fine if I sit near door till he drops off but I'm not doing that forever!!
The behaviour so reminds me of 18 month SR ours was awful
16-18 months!
Tried walk in walk out but he just gets so angry!
Today was up at 4.30 DH ended up laying next to cot as was crying but he would go back to sleep so managed to get to 12 for a nap but couldn't get EBT so I know will be cr@p night!
Feeling really down about it, I'm so sick of EW and I've always got his colds/coughs :-(

I had to do the door thing for about a week. It wasn't in the room but in the hall. Then eventually i would make it downstairs. Even now I have to call up once or twice and say knock it off and he plops down and gives up. Only does this to me not my DH or babysitter. He just wants mama. WIWO never works and never has for him if i"m in there he wants me.

I'm sorry you are feeling so down. The last week we've had 5:15 wakeups and I've had to lie down by the crib to get him back to sleep and stay in there with him to resettle till about 6:30. It is developmental I think.

I'm going to try the doorway tomor night then progress to outside I think! It's so hard when I'm used to quick cuddle, popping him in his cot then waving night night to this ordeal!

Thanks hun I'm just feeling sorry for myself I need to get on with it lol...just sick of feeling ill and tired!
The floor is not the comfiest place is it....xx

oh I hear you. I actually rocked him to sleep last night because we had to wait up for grandpa to get here and was way late so it was way past BT and he was hysterical. Can DH try and put him to bed? what I did was leave the house before bath/bt routine and then when dh went upstairs I came back in so he had no choice for me to do it and happily settled for dh. just gives you a few days respite.

It won't be forever! It really is a phase. There are nights when Olly still wants us in there whilst he drops off and he is 4! When Olly went though this at 2 he would refuse to even go in his cot. There was one night we made a bed for him on the floor next to his cot!

Hi
Well BT and naps are great just tell DS now it's time for sleeps and I'll be outside and check on him in a minute. I get a couple of mummy are you there and I shout back yes it's night times and that's it. But days are long and I can't get him to sleep earlier at BT or later in am!!!
Seems to be WU 5.30/5.50 no going back to sleep he's shouting mummy I get up now, or mummy I done a poo (fibs lol) mummy I need a rice cake now!!
Nap 12.45/1 capped 1.5 hours.
BT 7/7.15
Tried EBT but just turns into what seems like UT hour long battle, tried WI/WO at morning WU but never goes back to sleep. We did stop using gro clock as DS has few nights when unwell and it just didn't work right then.
Speech is amazing, can do sentences and they are very clear, 2 yr molars are moving I think but not crying just chewing fingers! He seems to be like a bottom less pit with food but then always eats well!

Just seems happy at the moment! Any ideas, a 6am WU would be great x

Ugh im with ya. Every morning this month 4am I hear. Mama... he puts himself back to sleep but is up at 5:30 every morning. so hes only getting barely a 10hr night. and bt is crazy calling crying mama mama hysterically.  Its trying my patience. We r currently on vacation and dharing a room so needless to say when hes up at 5:30 no way he's going back to sleep. end rant... lol needless to say I totally feel your pain.

Hope your vacation is good x
