11 wo showing sleepy cues after 40 minutes of A?
« on: April 28, 2014, 17:53:31 pm »
My 11 wo DD started showing sleepy cues after being awake for only 40 minutes, 17 of which were spent eating.  These included yawning and ear pulling.  Is it too early to put her down for a nap?

She didn't go down to bed until 1am, after which she had a NW at 6am
E - 9
A - 9:13
S - 10

E - noon
A - 12:17

And started showing sleepy cues at 12:40.  She didn't nap so well yesterday and didn't sleep very well last night, which is why I made the 6am wake up a NW instead of wake up time, but I think 40 minutes is still really early for cues.  Should I be putting her down now or wait a little longer to make A a little longer to ensure she's not UT?

Thanks!

So she has taken 2 two hour naps so far today, has been awake for only 40 minutes again and is showing sleepy cues.  If I put her down for another long nap now, I'm afraid she won't sleep tonight.  What should I do?

If she is tired I would put her down for another nap.  But you can always wake her from the nap to keep a decent bedtime :)

I would say that if she is getting a decent nap (2h is great!) she is just tired today. Mine (10wo) sometimes also shows sleepy cues after 45min but when I put him down so early I usually get a nap of 45min. Then I know it was too early.

Your LO is also coming into 3rd wonder week. With my DS when we started 2nd wonder week we had a day of very long naps following very short A. Maybe that is also correlated.

It might have something to do with a wonder week. She has been clutching onto me and DH for dear life! Or maybe she's just a baby that needs a lot of sleep. Either way, I'm glad she's napping!
