Restless naps :(
« on: April 29, 2014, 17:29:11 pm »
My 8 mo DD is not happy:( we have recently been upping her A times to lengthen her 45minute 3 nap days. It had been going really well until this week. In AM she is up and rolling around at 5:30, she dozes and plays until I get her up at 6:30. I'm not sure how to time her first A time as I'm not sure what her true wake up time is. So I've been timing from 6:30 when she's out of bed, from there we've gone from 1 and 45 A time to 2 and 45mins. We had 3 days where this was giving her an 1 1/2 nap. And an additional 1 1/2 in PM. The last couple days she was showing tired cues at an hour and 45 but we pushed through to 3 hours in the AM, but still napping for only 45, up and playing in her crib and would eventually fall back asleep for another 20-45 but after 20-30mins. I felt fine leaving her, as she was quiet and looked like she was really trying to get back to sleep( this is also what she looks like from 5:30-6:30am). After waking from this broken nap she seems tired and upset and shows cues at an hour and a bit. I've been keeping her up for another 3 and 15mins for PM A time, but then getting another restless 45-1 1/2 (if I'm lucky) then I have to put her down for the night by 6pm (overtired) help! Should I still be upping her A time? She used to sleep so soundly in the AM, so I would know an exact WU time, I have also tried W2S to extend these naps at the 25min mark in the past I would have to seriously move her about to get the stir, but now just opening the door alone will make her eyes pop open and then takes her a good 3-5 mins to get back to sleep. She is generally crabby the last 2 weeks. She popped two teeth and she was in pain, since then they have broken thru and she doesn't seem in pain, just agitated, tired and not her sweet self:( any advice moms?

Hi, my DS is 8 months old this week.  We too dropped the cat nap late afternnon and i started to get 5:30-5:45 wake up which messed up my naps for the rest of the day.  If he is tired i let him have a cat nap and I've found he is sleeping better than ever- waking up at 7:30-8:00 am making the rest of the day much easier to manage!
