What do YOU do when LO EW because of teeth?
« on: May 17, 2014, 12:38:31 pm »
DS is getting his 2yr molars. Every tooth that has ever cut has caused EW and since this is only the first molar cutting, and the fact that it is only a quarter of the way out, we have a long ways to go.

Anyways, he always EW one sleep cycle before his normal WU and DM don't make a difference. Obviously he is becoming OT from this and EBT just causes an earlier WU since he won't tack when teething.

What should I do? Just keep things as they are and stick with set nap and BT until all the teeth are through (probably a few months)?

What do you all do in this situation?

thats what I do but liam handles OT well. I will let him sleep a tad longer for his nap every few days to help or ill put him down for hos nap 15/30 min early to help with the OT. but typically keep bt the same and just ride it out.

Ok then, I guess that's what I'll do. So frustrating with these molars! I checked again yesterday and another quarter of the tooth is cutting plus the other bottom molar is starting to cut. Fun times!!! ::)

Just throwing out ideas.  I would consider 1) DM but at an hour before his EW time or 2) W2S also around that time.  It might not work but you never know.

Totally willing to try! I will do it tonight. I usually do dm around 3 but they dont make a difference...it has been like this with all teeth. I remember the 1yr molars, 3 months of crying out in the early morning and EW. Ugh!

Your post is the one I expect to write once 2 year molars start so had to post to offer some hugs. Teething EWs one sleep cycle short of a decent night's sleep are always a feature here with DM meds making no difference. We just offer slightly earlier/longer nap when needed and a few EBTs but not really as DS won't tack in this situation either. Hugs.

Thanks KJM! So frustrating isn't it? These molars take a really long time!
