Whenever I tell them to,  though the last couple of weeks I've just said to follow his cues.  They used to be able to do a short nap at 10 and another at 2ish but he's refused a second nap the last few times he's been there.  He'll only do 40 minutes there as a rule, but they rarely pd after 12, so that probably doesn't help.  Once I figure out what time to do a set nap I'll ask them to follow that,  bit not been sure what to tell them so far!

Jack is the same with the car. I think cos of short naps at nursery (and recent OT nap refusal) we've been letting him sleep earlier in the day, but I think the long A afterwards has actually made things worse  :-\

He did 1hr 20 in the end by the way :)

Yay!  Try the same naptime tomorrow and if it goes well tell them at nursery that is his naptime?

Yes, will do.  He's coming up on 11 hours sleep now, and is going to have a lower A to nap time as a result, so hopefully he'll nap ok still. At least I'll know why if he doesn't.... It's the questioning of everything he does that drives me mad!

Just a quick update - we seem to be getting back on track :) The night before last he did 11hrs 20 at night I think, and slept in til 6.35 which is mega for him!  Did a nap at 12.30 again and he shortened it slightly to 1hr 5, but that was after a huge night and shorter A to nap so to be expected.  It's better than 37 minutes so hey!  We did bedtime at 7.15 again last night and he slept 10hrs 40, which is fairly standard for him so I'm happy with that.

He's at nursery again today and tomorrow so I've asked them to do one nap at 12.30, and I'll bring bedtime forward if he only has a short nap (inevitable).  This next few days is where we usually trip up so I'll come back to update again later in the week.  I just wanted to update now to record some progress and remind myself of what worked if things go wrong again!

Back one last time to say I think we've cracked it - for however long it lasts!  After my last update he started shortening his naps again, so I tried a nap at 12.45 and they lengthened a bit, then I tried 1pm and they lengthened to 1hr 15-25 and they've stayed there ever since :) Well, it's been 3 days of good naps, anyway, and he's waking happy and is full of beans all day.  At least I know that keeping him up longer is what did it (again!). Now he's doing:

WU: 6
Nap: 1 - 2.20ish
BT: 7.30 (probably asleep by 7.40)

Anyway, thanks for your help. It feels good to have had three days the same at last!
