I guess that sums it up!  ;) I am just trying to get my head around the latest chaos and nap resistance and BT nonsense  that we are getting here and there. Today was a one-off (crazy nap resistance, 30 minute hysterical nap, BT resistance, then woke 1 hour later and scream BLOODY murder for about an hour) I am trying not to analyze it too much but I sense Ivy will ditch her nap way before Nevin did. But he hardly EVER did 12 hour night, so maybe it balances out! Usually we get a 1ish hour nap around 1 or 1:30 and BT about 8. She usually sleeps til around 8, DH has "orders" to wake her at 8:15.

You could try pushing the nap as late as 2pm and capping as you see fit (max 1.5 or BT may become a problem) but I found the loooong first A meant a shorter A to BT worked at 2-3yrs

I'm with Sara Maryn.

We did have similiar sheangians at this age and has to move the nap and like Ivy, R would more than make up for it at night. I think you just have to go with to a certain extent, it will straighten out x

Thanks Mamas! For another weeks or so I have the school run to contend with, which means she has to be up by 2:45. But school is almost out! Yay!

How long was your nap at this age, if you don't mind? I suspect, less than "full" but DS had a solid 2 hour nap every day at this age ( I have to stop thinking about that!) Ivy has never been a huge napper and that's just the way she is! :)

Ruby was napping 2h. We did cut it down to 1h45m but that was around 27m when sheangians re-commenced!!!

Ivy sounds similar to J, has always been better on a 12h night and less day sleep.  Currently we are averaging some sort of nap every 2-3 days ::). But for last 2-3 months we were doing something like WU 6.30/7, nap 1.30/45-3, BT 7pm when she was napping a touch more reliably......

Z napped 2 hrs for ages but we started NND at 2 yrs 3 mths with SEBT. With Z I'm certain he will be on 1.5 hrs by 24mths. He is far more spirited and needs less sleep than touchy Z

Thank you! We had a 1 hour 10 minute nap from 1:45-2:55 yesterday ( had to wake her to get DS) and she rolled around and sang before going to sleep at BT and nap! After a 6 hour A! But that is really about right for her age I suppose. I worry a bit about her nonsense on short nap/weird days as she tends to babble ( or scream) up to her usual BT, or beyond. When DS had odd days at this age you could plonk him in bed at 6 and he would be out. I hope she will catch on when the time comes to trim naps more consistently! :)

Thanks ladies. May I just ask, how many of your LOs woke happy and bubbling from naps at this age? Ivy wakes up somewhere from cross to livid and having HORRID tantrums on the floor for 20 minutes or so! A bit hard to handle!  She almost always wakes up happy in the morning and stays in her crib and plays with her stuffies for quite a while. THank you all so much, appreciated as always, this girl always gets one step ahead of me!

^^ sounds exactly like Zac ::) he would be miserable after every single nap and I had to wake him from almost every single nap. Happy as in the morning too.
I always had food and TV set up for Z so we would goo straight to the couch for 'waking up time'

Hi!

R has always been a monster if woken at naptime since we started capping from 2h. Now that we're down to one hour it is horrid. She is beyond grumpy - she often cries which is not nice at all and tells me to go away and leave her alone!! I too now scoop hey out of bed and take her downstairs to cuddle on the sofa and some TV time. She's better and it's less painful than her staying in her bed with me trying to keep her awake for 45mins!!

Also in the morning when she wakes she is happy as a lark - chatting singing etc.

J is awful when woken from naps, but like others will generally play happily in the morning (unless a stupidly short night).  We either have an immediate distraction ready, or take time in her room for her to come round, or cuddle on the sofa for 20-30 mins with some TV.
