Nearly 3yo no naps. Loong NW please help.
« on: May 09, 2014, 13:25:21 pm »
Hi,
I have also posted in the dropping the nap board. But thought ill post here for any additional help.
DD is turning 3 in a few days. And i have recently stopped giving her naps. Because of late/refusing naps and then really late bedtime.
I stopped giving her a nap about a week ago. I started with giving her 11 hr days. But she would still wake at night for a few hours. So then thinking she was OT i bought bedtime earlier. But that didn't help. And i than heard that long NW are usually UT. So i made her days 12 then 13hours. And it hasn't help. She now is having only 9 hrs ONS and is refusing to nap until really late. Which then makes bedtime late again. Im stuck in a cycle and is running out of ideas...please help 😔
Also she usually wakes after around 9 hours of sleep. She doesn't cry she just plays in her bed for 2-3 hours. Most nights i wouldn't have even known she woke up...

Hi,

My R is 2y 10m - until recently I would have agreed that long NW are UT but I have noticed since having to cap her nap further to one hour she is super tired and after busy days she will either take an age to go to sleep Or wake around 2/2.30 for an hour or so. My conclusion is ghat as she's got older that this can also be the effect of OT. I could be wrong but I just kind of get that sense.

For us a 9h night would Definately be OT. Can you post your last 3 days In EAS format and maybe we can work out a plan?

Hena

Hi again!
I've been trying a 40min nap halfway through the day but that hasn't helped the NW. She still wakes up for at least 2 hrs at night. I have tried to bring BT earlier but she will still fall asleep at her usual time. Any help or ideas appreciated. Thank you

Hi,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Tbh i needed to take some time to work out your day. It's seems to me that you may benefit from some consistency. For example, WU ranges anywhere from 7am to 9am.

So maybe try something a little more structured waking your LO up in the mornings, capping naps etc to maintain some structure to your day.

Also, given your LOs age I am wondering if  he's ready to drop the nap.

Here's a link that might help:
