Can Dream Feed affect supply negatively?
« on: May 19, 2014, 06:23:48 am »
It just occurred to me that by pumping in the morning (so that my husband can do the dream feed later) and skipping the dream feed via boobie and having only 1 night time feed, I may be reducing milk production. Is this true?
My 3mo LO isn't interested in "breakfast" much, so we go from S to A to S. I pump while he sleeps. I'm worried I'm reducing the amount of milk available. His feeds are increasingly frustrating too as he finds everything more interesting than eating (even the inside of the nursing cover).

What time of the night is the night feed usually? Just wondering if it is impacting the first morning feed at all if it is close to it. Have you tried nursing in a dark room? During those distracted times I used to lift them from bed after the night or nap in the dark and feed as they were more likely to have a good feed.

Hi...:) My DS was also not interested in morning feed when his last NF was after 5a. That's why I hated so much when he was awake for feed so late. I preferred NF at 4am:).

I just weaned him off the 2am feed, so he only eats at 4am. Thats a good idea to feed him in the dark room he just woke up in (he wakes at 7am). I have been going downstairs, fiddling around a bit and then sitting down to eat. He will drink a little and then pull away and refuse to keep eating. And at that point its hard for me not to engage with his cute little smiles...  ::)
