However, I remain confused as to why he takes ages to fall asleep at night but he's happy in his crib so I'm just sticking with it.
R is also often taking ages to settle to sleep at night. I think that some LOs just need some time to process their day. Is A introverted? R seems to be and I think she sometimes just needs to enjoy some quiet time to herself and really unwind before sleep.

Haven't had any no naps days around here, yet.  Not sure what I'd do as he simply doesn't tack on.  We had a 25 min nap day in the car last week and he still wouldn't tack on, ended up having NWs and an earlier WU than usual!  But we recovered!

Yes, A is introverted.  He has always been one to take everything in as he is very aware, very observant and notices every new sound, new object, new person, etc.  I think he must just need that long time to unwind before bed because it really doesn't matter whether his nap is short or long, he needs a minimum of 45 minutes to settle to sleep.  So, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing!

This is where I'm at too. I've finally just accepted that she takes a while to go to sleep at BT.
