Yes...that is my goal... two naps as long as possible until testing the dropped CN and EBT seems reasonable.  I've also learned through this site that it's not good to introduce new schedule changes or new foods while teething... one of those things that you would think that I would have just known...but so many gems to grasp and tuck away!

I just got back from a 45 min walk in the woods with a friend and my LO on my back (backpack)... little stinker fell asleep on me!!!!!  Up to new tricks I reckon!  Didn't think he would ever do that, but now I know... so gotta cap my walks from now on - but it was his wind down for his morning nap so can't blame him and very humid and warm here in Indiana today :(

Yes, the pp anxiety really felt the valley of the shadow of death... but God is almighty and all powerful and pulled me through with a loving husband, supportive family and church family and lots of prayer.  I'm on medication now... and wonder if I'll ever be OK to give that up! :):)  I still get anxious about nap stuff but I think my 20 years of physical therapy and needing to run on a tight schedule pretty much transferred over to my LO... :(

Thank you for the encouragement!  I'm going to keep him going down at 11:35 and up at 1:05 and capping his PM nap to 15 minutes until that goes wonky... not sure what to look for though to diagnose wonkiness!  My clues are mostly night wakings or fussing/fighting/refusing nap(s).  Any thoughts?

Sounds like you are doing great as well.  I say that anyone with a belly button is control freak!  Just pops up in different ways.  It is good to have a BWBuddy though!  Thanks for the encouragement!  I'm hoping that your off kilter schedule has normalized somewhat again!

There so many things to consider isn't there?! Teething, wonder weeks etc etc. my mum thinks I'm crazy how much i read up on it all!

Little monkey! Good to know he'll fall asleep in there though. No chance of that here, plus the fact it has rained all pigging day. It's bank holiday here, so wanted to spend some time out with DD and DH, but a day indoors is all we got  :( oh well.

Hey and I know all about tight schedules. I right with you on that one. I'm just so glad you've had the support through that nastiness, I'm sure whenever you feel ready to come off the meds, they'll all be there holding your hand too. As we will all be here too!

Wonkiness is random here. DD is more of a nightmare UT than OT tbh. BT for us was getting later and she was taking longer and longer to fall asleep making her nights around 10hrs (sometimes 9.5), that I knew I had to try the one nap thing. I think you're spot on with what you think... I'm sure he'll let you  know when he's ready.

We had a wonderful day today! She's back to being happy again. She obviously needed a two nap day (at random times) to catch up from our 3 one nap days. We had a mammoth 2hr 20mins nap from 11.20am and BT was at 6.30pm - asleep 5 mins later! I wish every day could be like this. I know it's going to take a long time to get to one nap all the time, but it just don't like the uncertainty yk?

It's fantastic to have a BWbuddy  :D it's just amazing how so many mums from across the world can meet up on here. I just love it  :D even if I have to hear what lovely weather you're having (jealous!!!)  ;)

((Hugs)) keep me posted xx

Ah... my mom thinks the same... but it's the day and age we live in!  She always laughs and says "I never knew all that and somehow you kids turned out just fine."  And we did... three of us.

I'm not a fan of rainy days!  Well, I'm OK with them but my LO gets itching to get out...and we have 30-80% chance of rain almost every day for the next two weeks!  No need to be jealous anymore!  :)

So jinx is on me!  Slept? or was quiet for only 5 min for his PM nap... so got him up and went on with the day... I expect an early BT!  Maybe even 7 or 7:15...

Glad we can support each other and hoping that other moms feel free to jump in with thoughts, or support needs or questions on this thread should you be in the same boat!

Hugs!

And an early bedtime it was.. 7:15 but also had two night wakings... one at 11:30 and the other at 5:30 :(

Decided to push his A time to 11:45 today... did... and let him sleep as long as he wanted... he did - two hours!  So... wasn't sure what the rest of the day would look like.  Put him down for BT at 7:30 and of course, he cooed till about 7:50 before fussing twice and drifting off... so, NOW I fear OT is on the horizon but who knows... can't ruin my life over this nap stuff.

Interested in thoughts from others on this... sounds like there will be some one nap days and some 2 naps days... may have to take care of OT when it begins to rear with some car naps... I know - APOP but if it saves my sanity and keeps OT at bay...

Yes, he will have some one nap and some two nap days.  But the way I always approached transitions was to let them regulate on their own.  I never forced a nap because that generally gave more trouble than letting them refuse nap and doing an earlier bedtime.  It worked well for dd1 through the 2-1 and the 1-0 and is so far working well for dd2 too.

Hopefully he gave you a good night and good nap today :)

That's what we are doing... allowing him to regulate now.  It's not worth the hassle for sure when they refuse etc.

He is still sleeping... 2 hrs and 15 minutes now.  Likely no early BT tonight.  Tried last night and he cooed till 10 till 8 which was his normal BT anyway (8).

:)  Oh the joys... I am enjoying him even more now that I'm stressing less about it.

Hiya,

Well done on the one nap days!! Amazing. I tried to go back to 2 set naps for DD after we had an hr-long NW (45mins after BT) the other night. DH thinks I should take that as a random occurrence but I want to read her cues yk?  I was just fed up of not being consistent. Well it looks like I've balls that up too! First day only a 45 mins nap for the first one, 30 mins for the second, then took over an hour to go to sleep at BT  ::)

Second day, 1.5hr nap first one, refused second, EBT. Today, 1hr 45mins nap and I think she's refusing the second (20 mins of playing around so far, will have to get her in 10 to fit in tea time before EBT again).

What's weird, is that she has far more DT and NT sleep in a 24-hr period on a one nap day (2-2.5hrs and 12hrs) Two naps she'll only have a max of a 10.5hr night and 1hr 45mins sleep.

Think we'll have to push on, then offer 2 naps when she's particularly cranky like the other day when I had to put her down before 8.

I agree too, there's no point getting stressed about it. But I do! Stupid, I know.

Good luck with today. Come and jump on the 2-1 transition thread as there's other lovely people in the same boat as us! Xx

Oh wow...

I put my LO down 45 min earlier the first day he did a 2 hour nap... but he cooed and such till almost 8... so in my mind I'm wondering if putting them down THAT much earlier is still trying to cash in on sleep that they are not needing?  For example, if they are skipping even a 15 min second CN, why am I putting my LO down 45 min earlier?  I know the OT thing but we'll see.

Yesterday we had almost a 3 hour nap and BT at 8... no NW for the last two nights.  Today was grocery day...so we'll see what happens.  Two naps in the car.  first was 40 min and second was 50 min.  BT at 7:30pm.  Cooed for about 7 min and then off to sleep.

I've been reading the 2-1 thread - thanks!

When I was trying to cap the CN, I started getting several NW in a row :(  Not used to that!  So I quit capping the morning nap and am running with the results.... you might want to try the same if your LO is going down for nap 1 late enough.  Mine goes down about 11:45 now.

I found it difficult to cap the cn with dd1 as well.  I just couldnt get it right!  Things got much better when she didnt need it anymore.

If he is doing 3hr naps then I would say he probably doesnt need early bed.  DD2 was very much ready to transition and rarely actually needed early bed.  Only on days that she had an early or really bad nap.

Sounds like things are going well.  Great job mumma  ;D

Well... only the one day of delicious three hour nap in the am!  Today was 1.5 hours... so not sure if I should try for the cn... he just doesn't do early bedtime well at all.  Two wakings in the night last night too... (two car naps yesterday of 40 min and 50 min).  Will just see what happens... argh...

I would try for cn if he seems tired.  It is a tough transition, but by letting him lead the way things will work out just fine  ;)

Ah... thanks for the encouragement... it might have to be a CN in the car though... it seems to work better that way...
