Keep daycare routine over summer break?
« on: June 18, 2014, 02:03:25 am »
DD will soon be 22 mos. Right now she goes to daycare from 8-4 on Monday to Friday. They have a set nap of 12:15 and R naps well at that time (2-3 hours). Lately we've been getting shorter nights (see my other post on here!) and earlier wake-ups and I think she might be ready for a later nap. At the end of June, she'll be home with me until the end of August. Should I push the nap out then or leave it? I'm worried that if I change the nap time, she won't readjust to an earlier time when she goes back to daycare and she'll end up dropping the nap.

Hi my LO is 25 months and naps at nursery around 12/12.30 for 1.5 hours but at home naps at 1 for 1.5. I've tried matching routines but think it's just more tiring and stimulating at nursery that they just sleep earlier x

I've found this too.  Personally I would do what works at home and then see how it goes when she's back at daycare.  I found in the early stages of nap dropping with DD that she would sometimes refuse the early nap one day, but then be so tired the next she'd take it no problem.  You could also keep nap at same time but cap it at 2h at home and see how that goes?

Would she be likely to go back to an earlier nap after 2 months of a later nap?

R does often nap longer at daycare - the long walks to the park and the great amount of exercise she gets there each morning probably help!
