Night Terrors?
« on: June 16, 2014, 19:00:57 pm »
Hello everyone,

Its been a while since I have been posting but here I am once again in need of advice, suggestions.

Here is the thing, Both my twin girls (share a room ) just over 2 and 1/2 years seem to be having night terrors. Or so I think.
Its been happening for a few weeks and the weird thing is that it can happen multiple times a night for each. It is one of the most stressful things I have experienced. They thrash around, I can not calm them , they yell no , no , they are really in distress. And it lasts a good 20 min.

They don't experience them at the same time but usually what happens is that one has one and then anywhere from an hour to 2 hours later the other will have one, or the same one will have another. There have been nights where I am entering a war zone at least 5 x.

Any chance this can be food related? I have done research but can't find anything solid. Except to stay away from sugar and dyes before bedtime.

As well, their natural-path has them on a remedy that they started about 3 weeks ago and it seems that it all coincides. Is this possible?

I believe they are night terrors but to have so many in one night / in one week????? Could I be wrong.....

My sin would have several in one night quite often. Overtiredness and being too hot were the usual reasons, and often getting him to have a wee would help greatly.

I've no idea if food could be a trigger but it wouldn't surprise me tbh, I don't know what though.

Hugs. Night terrors are the worst thing ever :(

I don't understand - they've had these terrors only since they started the remedy?  I'd be on the phone to the naturopath as quickly as possible.

We've had night terrors too, just as you describe, but only one a night.  Apparently it's best to just speak calmly and not try to touch them.

Has anything changed in their lives? You or DH away more? New room? Daycare changes?

Yes the night terrors started around the same time. I will be speaking with her on Wednesday.  Odd that something so "natural" could cause something like this.

I do notice when I go in they are extremely hot and sweaty. The heat could also be the cause. I will try to make their room cooler tonight to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your input.

Hi, not sure how much help this is but my daughter had been having terrible nightmares, she would always be sweaty at night even on cold nights and she was suffering from terrible headaches and tummy aches to the point she got referred for an mri which thankfully was clear. Our gp told us to try going dairy free for 2 weeks then back on dairy. All the symptoms stopped when dairy free after about a week and started pretty much straight away when we put her back on it.

we are now completely dairy free and no nightmares or headaches or tummy aches and its heaven as she was having migraines daily before.

may be worth a try??
