BT Refusal 23 Month old
« on: July 10, 2014, 03:40:37 am »
We've been struggling with EW for most of my DS life. He has always wanted 11 hours at night. Every once in a while I strike on a schedule that gets him to sleep till 7 or 7:30am for a couple of weeks, then he changes and goes back to his old 6:30 w/u which usually forces us back to 7:30 BT.

Lately though he has been fighting BT, even when we let him stay up till 8pm. He's still waking btw 6:30 and 7, but he's laying in bed fussing till 8:30-9pm (with w/in w/o). When this started he was taking super long 2-3 hour naps. I've slowly reigned him in to a 1.5 hour capped off nap which does seem to help with his w/u time, but now is seemingly causing BT refusal.

Here's his EASY:

w/u 6:45ish
Nap 12:30-2pm
BT 7:30-8:00 (but never falling asleep before 8:30pm)

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

We did have some developmental sleep shenanigans at this age for a good few weeks which did lead to later BTs etc. it could just be that, in which case it may be a case of ride it out and see what happens, which is probably not what you want to hear.

If it's not development or teething, it could be that a further nap length tweak is required. Have you read this thread?

If it's any help, it will take a while and having just come through it I find life easier now she has dropped the nap. Yes it is tiring if she's having a grumpy day, but it does mean we can get out more easily.
