Move to big bed??
«

DD is 2.5 yo. She currently is still in her cot and we are thinking to move her to a big bed.
We are moving house in a couple of weeks time. It will be a big change for her for moving to a complete new city, start new nursery, etc. I wonder whether I should wait until she settles in the new home before I change her bed or I should just make it as an exciting event that we are moving to a new home so she will have a new bed. Any thoughts?

Listening in as dd is 2.5 too and should prob move to a bed soon although she doesnt try to climb out or anything yet!.
Iiwm with all the changes already happening I would just move to a bed and make it part of the exciting change. Get her to help pick out duvet covers, room decor etc...

I actually wouldn't change to a bed until things were a bit settled, fur sure if she didn't show signs that she is ready for it, like climbing out of her bed.

If she isn't about to outgrow her cot, then I'd leave it for a bit longer
DS only moved to a single bed in June (at 3y 9mo) - he was actually getting too long for his cotbed!
You'll probably want to redecorate her new room at some point, so make a new bed part of the redecoration - that's what we did with DS and he loved it

I am of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" way of thinking. Unless she's complaining or trying to climb out, I'd leave her in there. Ds1 moved around 2.5 because DS2 needed the crib, but DS2 was a little over 3 when we moved him.

I'd leave her in the cot too, she might feel more secure. My DS is 2.5yrs and keep thinking I should change it to a bed but like pp said if it's not broke don't fix it. My DS doesn't climb out so I'm hanging on for a bit longer.

Thanks for all your replies. She doesn't climb out at all and there's still room for her to grow in the cot as well. I will keep her in there for a bit longer.
