Too much milk?!
« on: September 28, 2014, 19:55:10 pm »
DS2 is 12.5 weeks old. At 10 weeks he weighed 15lbs4 so he is a big boy. Yesterday and today he has taken so much I'm a little worried he's over feeding?! I make 8oz bottles which by the time you add the powder makes it 9oz. He takes 6 of these between approx 630am-9pm and then sleeps through the night. Today he fed at 640, 830, 1130, 230, 5 and 730. The 830am and 730pm ones were drained. He took approx 48-50oz today. Should I be worried???

I bet he is having a growth spurt and it is totally normal for intake to go up temporarily during those. Even here where there are maximum recs for formula the exception is during growth spurts as they need more.

Ah yes I've just googled 12 weeks growth spurt and indeed it is a big one! Ok so I just need to ride it out - should I be offering 10oz at a feed??? Seems like such a large amount at his age! But then as my
Mum reminded me he is sleeping through so I shouldn't complain about frequent day feeding!
