Uh oh... 18mo now able to climb out of her cot.
« on: October 05, 2014, 19:12:16 pm »
Well I've had a surprise tonight... Put DD down for bed. Could hear lots of banging upstairs so went to investigate and little lady comes running out of her room!!!!

So now that she can escape (I'm surprised it's taken her this long, she's a climber!) what do I do now? Do I need to convert to a bed with a guard? Just wait and see if the novelty wears off (we've had nap and BT shenanigans today so wondering if 18mo sleep regression?)

She's a bit young for a bed isn't she?

Would she wear a sleep sack at all? Or does she already? That stopped DD1 for awhile. DD2 did go to a toddler bed (converted crib) at 16 months but she was/is still a very still sleeper and would never get out of bed before dh or I told her to.

She used to wear them but started to hate it about 3 months ago and as it was warmer we just took it away. Could try introducing it again but not sure how it'll go down?

Personally I would give it a shot before resorting to ditching the crib!

Screamed blue murder every time I've tried the sleeping bag  :(

Climbed out every night since... She's not well (cold and chest infection) but this week she's been a little pickle. She's become so destructive indoors (literally causing chaos in each room she goes in) and now the climbing out the cot. Is this the joys of the 18mo developmental leap?

Any other suggestions? I really can't see her staying put in a bed! Aggghhhhh

I say let her climb to her heart's content while she's awake so the novelty might wear off that much sooner. Seriously.
