Not going to bed and waking early
« on: October 09, 2014, 05:03:46 am »
I'm in desperate need of advice please. My DS is 2 3/4 years old. For the past few months sleeping has been a nightmare. He messes around going to bed. We follow a bedtime routine of bath, 5mins of peppa pig, milk, biscuit, teeth, bed. He has a story when he's in bed, I rub his back for a bit and then leave him to go to sleep. Then the fun starts. He keeps getting out of bed, crying for us, playing with the door handle etc. anything to keep himself awake. We just keep putting him back to bed. He goes to bed 7.15pm and can still be awake 8.30-9pm.  You'd think he'd sleep in, but no, he's then awake 4.45am. I keep putting him back to bed each time he comes in my room. He still has a nap during the day for 1 hr. I've tried stopping this but because of the early mornings his behaviour is terrible, we get tantrums and he's aggressive to his older sister.  Sorry for long post but I'm at my wits end!

Going to move this one over to sleeping for toddlers for you, hun.  You'll get more people in the same boat there. :)

I'd cut the nap and do 5.30pm bedtime. Or do a short (20 mins) early (11am) nap just to get through to a later bedtime.
