OT or 1-0?
« on: December 15, 2014, 10:40:06 am »
Not sure if this is OT or 1-0 or a little of both. DS' s schedule has been a little out of wack since I went back to work. Some days I must wake him at 6 to leave the house by 6:15 to go to the babysitters. Even so he was still doing 2hr naps and 11 hrs at night. So typical day was
w:6.
N: 12:30-2/2:30
BT 7 sometimes fell asleep right away other times 7:30

Some days if I didn't have to wake him it was
w: 6:30/6:45
N 1--2:30/3
BT 7:30

He was needing/getting a lot of sleep. Generally though it was about 12.5hrs total. But to throw another wrench into things he goes to daycare 2times a week and he often doesn't sleep there or does an hr. On those days I shoot for ebt  usually 6:30 is the earliest I can get though.

In the past week or two hes been waking up earlier around 5:30. Some days it's like he just cant get back to sleep others he just won't. We've had a few short nights due to holiday activities and his proclivity to wakeup early no matter what hasn't helped.

DS is 2.6 yrs old so Im wondering should his nap be capped at 1.5hrs even if he needs a catch up nap? Also on days hes is at the babysitter he needs to be up by 2:15 for a school run.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Sat he woke at 5:30 napped from 12:30-3 I had to wake him up. Went to Holiday party didn't go to bed till 9 which is so uncommon for us but Still woke at 6.

Oh that is a hard one to tell. He certainly is at an age where some kids need capping or dropping of the nap but then with the schedule change it could be ot. Or both! Is he a higher sleep needs kid? Maybe after the holidays trying a good run of capped naps to see if he tacks on to the morning sleep?

As a baby he was very LSN but last 6 month higher sleep needs. Hes waking around 5:15 and refusing to go back to sleep so I think I might go back to the gro clock as it worked before. Then after holidays cap?

I started nap capping when my lo was the same ages as yours. Started at 1.5 hrs but it was too much for him and I backtracked to 1hr45 which worked for about 6 weeks.

Those ews cd also be that nap is too early in the day though. We were on a 1.30 nap at that age.

Unfortunately he has to get up at 6am some days due to my work so bt needs to be earlier and a 1:30 nap is too late for a 7pm bedtime. :/
