Hello, my baby girl is almost 6 month old. She has gone from waking once in the night (around 4am) to waking at 11pm, 2am and 4am. This is following a period of being unwell and I think the wakings are a habit as I was breastfeeding her when she wakes and I have continued to do so hoping that she will stop waking on her own.
She goes to bed at night awake and settles herself to sleep without crying and I always put her down awake again after a night feed, which generally means I have to wake her up as she falls asleep feeding. She also naps really well during the day and settles herself without crying.
We have tried leaving her when she wakes to see if she will settle but she gets really upset and screams very loudly and then wakes up my toddler as well.
So my question is could I try wake to sleep for the 11pm awakening and if so what time should I go in?
The other option is pick up put down but I'm not sure how this would work? She seems quite wilful so how long would I use PUPD for?
Thanks in advance, it's getting exhausting as I am up early with toddler who us very active during the day.
Last point- I thought that as she is so good at self settling that maybe something is bothering her to wake up in the night. I have tried having the room warmer and cooler and giving her calpol for teeth in case it is that. Do you think that the wakings are a habit and that she is used to having me to breastfeed her? Thanks.
