Hi all

I have been seeking help on the EASY board but to no avail so far and was really hoping someone here may be able to help! DS2 is my third baby but the first that I have managed to BF beyond the first 10 days so everything is different this time and suddenly we have got to 10 weeks and DS will no longer let me put him down for a nap (even if he is fast asleep on me he wakes within 2-3 mins of being put down in his moses basket. He wakes continually through a nap time and each time I have to pick him up to get him back to sleep. He will take a dummy but only if I pick him up and rock him first, if I try and give it him in his bed (which worked with my other two bottle fed babies) he spits it out and squirms and arches his back and screams until I pick him up at which point he calms down and will take the dummy. I then rock him to sleep put him down and the cycle starts again.

If we're out and about he'll sleep for a decent length in the car seat or pushchair and there is the odd night where he will go after his bedtime bottle of formula (about 6.30) until 2 - 3am then 7am but many is the night like last night where he wakes at 11pm then won't properly settle the entire night.

please help, any suggestions are gratefully received!!!

Can't link on small screen but havr a look on theCrying Reflux Colic board for the Reflux101 Sticky and see if anything there rings a bell for you. Lots of good infor there. Might be on the CRC FAQ board...maybe a mod can link it here?

I actually wondered about discomfort as well (the squirming and arching and screaming part and the really unsettled nights). Here is the link Deb is referring to: Reflux 101 - General reflux information Let us know if anything pops out at you.

I would say that around 6-14 weeks was the worst of reflux in Josie's case; once we got her reflux treated - in her case case it was pretty overt, with fountains of milk everywhere :P - it so SOOO much easier to get her comfortable and sleeping. In hindsight there was probably also some dairy intolerance going on as well, but at the time I was so overwhelmed with lack of sleep (hers AND mine) that it hadn't crossed my radar yet.

Thank you ladies. DD had reflux and was medicated (first Gaviscon the Renitidine the eventually omeprazole) quite erly on. We suspected silent reflux even whilst I was still in hospital but I'm less convinced now. I'm certain he doesn't have reflux as he's rarely ever sick, and not really thinking he has silent reflux these days as he's generally quite happy, he does come off the bottle/breast shouting at me until he's brought up his wind and then he's calm and doesn't really seem to have any other symptoms, or if he does I would think it's very mild??? It is possible though. I guess with silent reflux it's a lot trickier to tell??

Dairy intolerance? Many of the symptoms can be similar.

It is possible. Dd has this also. I actually hadn't even considered that! I've been reading more about silent reflux and think that could actually be a possibility. He has a dry cough and is snotty at feed times. Cries immediately after a feed for a little while (but usually stops once he is winded) .... I will try to pay a bit closer attention to it all and see if I can find any patterns in what's going on
