11wk old napping 30mins
« on: February 14, 2015, 07:15:05 am »
im going crazy.  My girl is textbook mostly with touchy.  She thrives on routine and gets grumpy when routine is messed up, which is everyday due to school runs etc.  she is constantly having 30min naps, sometimes 40min.  She is normally a chilled out baby but she waking grumpy from her naps and is remaining that way for the day.  It's driving me insane, she is constantly crying.

But I saw an earlier post about shortening awake times (up until about 6wks her awake time as 1.20mins and had long naps so I figured that a time was good for her, perhaps a low sleep needs girl, but now, it's causing 30min nap.  So I took the advice of an earlier post and shortened her awake time first thing this morning to 1hr (at 45mins she was yawning).  I put her to bed at 1hr.  She peacefully went down for 10mons and then cried wanting help to settle.  It then took 30mins of shh and pat to get to go to sleep.  Normally she goes down quicker, but she really fought it this time. She seemed very overtired.

I don't know what to do.

I have her on a 3.5hr schedule as she wasn't eating much on a 3hr which had helped lots.  During the day she has a easase kind of routine.  I don't have an exact routine to post but here's an approximation

7 wake, EAT
8.30 asleep in car seat - school drop off
9am wake and grumpy.  Try to resettle, most of the time she can't get back to sleep.....and that leads us into our 30min nap day.  Occasionally she'll do a catch up sleep and sleep 2hrs, without any help resettling, but not often.

Most afternoons I can't get her to back to sleep from 3.30onwards, even in the carrier.

5pm begin cluster feeding
6.oopm - bedtime routine, lots of feeding.  Asleep by 6.30/7.  She woke every 30mins till 8.30 last night.  I fed back to sleep everytime (treat them like a night waking), but usually she doesn't do that

12amish - usually wakes for a feed (she didn't last night)
330am - feed/sleep
7am wake

Usually on average she wakes two time for a feed a night, sometimes once if she has fed constantly up till 8.30 like last night.

She does have silent reflux but she is medicated for it and she doesn't seem in pain from it, so I think it's under control.

For the second nap I had her asleep at 1.15 wake time.  She woke after 40mins tired and crying.  I tried shh and pat for a while,Ickes her up to settle and fell asleep instantly in my arms.  Problem is, even if I wait for 15min or so so she is deeply asleep, the second I put her down, she wakes, or wakes 10min later.  I don't know what to do!
