Does it get better???
« on: March 03, 2015, 17:41:44 pm »
My DS is 15 weeks old..till the time he was 12 weeks he was an angel baby...i shsh patted him while walking n bouncing a little n he would easily go to sleep...but he jerked a lot (even though swaddled) so for naps I held him to sleep over my shoulder but at BT he would sleep on our bed..wake up for 3-4 night feeds n drift off to sleep peacefully...but since the time he was turned 12 weeks things have really deteriorated...we went through a wonder week where he just would not nap n was v v OT...we APOPed for almost a week so that he could catch up on sleep but the result is he now doesn't go to sleep at all without his swing for naps n at night he wants to feed to sleep.. sometimes he will wake up every hour just to suckle n go back to sleep...

i followed BW n EASY with DD1..so I know all the principles...we did lot of APOP with DD1 as she had silent reflux but as soon as that got sorted out i could put DD drowsy but awake (she used a pacifier so that helped a lot i think)..
My DS doesnot take a pacifier...so i become his pacifier every night...
Putting hum to bed at night has become a struggle n more often than not he gets up 45 mins to 1 hour after being put down.

I don't have any specific questions n to be very honest i don't want to start sleep training now as i don't think i have the energy right now and am thinking may be as he gets little older things might get little better..(he might start taking the pacifier , have been trying to give it everyday since last couple of days)

But when does it get better????? I have done so much research on baby sleep...have all the info..but want to wait little longer to start (n gather some courage meanwhile)...but does it get better...mamas pls share ur experiences..feeling pretty discouraged..what makes me feel worse is I hardly get to spend time with DD n DS..seems all im doing all day is making DS sleep n trying to keep him asleepC

I am so sorry that you are struggling.
o be very honest i don't want to start sleep training now as i don't think i have the energy right now and am thinking may be as he gets little older things might get little better.
Would it help to not think of it as training exactly? The most important thing is to find the right A time, get some consistent routines in place and stick to it. When you have a good routine, your baby picks up strong sleep associations like the swaddle, a particular sleep time song etc, and this makes a big difference.

DD was also an angel till around 3 months with naps & nights. She was sleeping through from 5 weeks, and would have earlier if I hadn't kept waking her every 2 hours to eat. Then she stopped napping altogether during the 4 month wonder week. In my experience, naps got easier when we moved to 2 naps + CN, and even better when we were on just 2 naps. There was less to be stressed out about.

Hang in there, hun!
