It must be difficult to combine the two hun, I'm afraid I've no experience of that. Might be worth starting a new thread about how to tackle BT with two?

So what we do know is 4hrs to BT is too long. Interesting that she took an hour nap after 2.5hrs. was that following the 30mins nap? Xx

that's right. she had 3 hrs of A, then napped 30 min. after that she had 2.5hrs A and had a 1hr nap. I'm so scared to make her stay up for 3 hrs of A after only a 30 min nap. I feel that will make her so OT. but what do I know...

the past few nights she's been waking up 10+ times. I have no clue what it is. I want to just blame it on teething.............

It could well be teething hun or a cold coming on?

Have you tried w2s? Can't remember if we've mentioned it before? 3hrs is around average for her age so it should work? Is she always waking happy at the 30mins mark? How is she after the nap, do you feel she's getting increasingly OT by the end of the day?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a full picture so we can make a plan. ((Hugs)) in the meantime, I know exactly what it's like having a short napper xx

no worries at all. whatever it takes to "fix" this! I really appreciate your help. thank you so much!

yes, she's both teething and been having a cold for the past few days too :'(

I have tried w2s and it hasn't worked. she still wakes up after 30 min. I've only tried 3hrs A time a few days ago when you first suggested it so we're still testing it out. we were out and about on the weekend so weren't able to stick to it as much as I'd like. she's usually tired before 3hrs so I have to try hard to keep her entertained and occupy to hit the 3hr mark.

she's usually happy after 30 min but then she's just a happy baby in general. every time she sees us she'll smile. sometimes when she is still tired I try to soother her back to sleep but doesn't always work.

I think she's pretty OT by night time. we've had a few rough nights. she seems to always wake up at some point in the middle of the night and is wide awake. the night before it was 2am. last night was 4:30am  ??? at that point I have no clue what to do other than nurse her back to sleep :(

Don't worry sweetie, we've all btdt wrt night time apop here and there!

You're going to hate me for saying this, but how about we add yet more A time on and see if that makes a difference? Waking at 30mims for some could signal OT but tbh they're usually easy (ish) to get back off for more sleep. The fact she's waking happy is making me think she could handle more. I know we've just bumped her up already and she does seem tired even before the 3hrs, but we've got to try something haven't we?

I'm not surprised she's OT by nighttime. The NW's could be a combination of the teething and/or a need to bump the A times and coupled with OT by the end of the day. A sort of UT/OT loop perhaps.

Are you medicating with ibuprofen? I would try that 20mins before her nap, push the A to 3hrs 10mins and do w2s at 20mins into the nap. Do you think you could give that a try and see? It can't get much worse can it?  ;) :)

Fwiw I had an awful time at around 7.5-8mo with my DD. Think that's when I joined here. We were plagued with 45mins naps her entire life and that was ok until the nights went to pot with long NW's. it was only through here I was given the confidence to push her. I think we were on around 2.75-3hrs A and by the time it was sorted at around 8.5mo, she was pulling a 4hr first A and on her way to the 2-1 transition! Turned out she was able to handle much higher A times than the *norm*. The only problem I ever had with pushing her was having too much A time to BT which caused us OT early night WU's (easy to resettle). All the long drawn-out NW's vanished (until the blasted canines came recently  ::), but that's another story  :)). Otherwise, once we found the right A for her she was suddenly capable of having a 1.5hr nap. All I want you to know hun is that there is hope xx

I wanted to follow your advice but the last 2 days she has just not been following her so-called "schedule." she seems extra sleepy and tired. I tried to keep her occupied and she fell asleep while jumping in her jumperoo! both days she's napped 4 times but it is only roughly 3 hrs added together. she's been waking up earlier too (around 6). should I continue to try for 3 hrs 10 min A time? she's been more fussy and cranky too. teething must really be bothering her :(

good news is we've finally moved her into her own room and she seems to sleep a bit better. takes a while for her to settle down but once she's in deep sleep she's ok.

thank you for sharing your story. it feels better knowing I'm not alone and it WILL get better...  eventually.

Could definitely be teeth and/or a ww or growth spurt that's causing her to be a bit more sleepier.

That's so sweet about her falling asleep in her jumperoo, bless her. I would try for the longer A time first thing if she has a reasonable night and see how it goes? Xx
