2-1 nap is she ready?
« on: May 21, 2015, 13:32:49 pm »
Hey all! Just looking for the thread on the 2-1 nap... Little one is 10 months and wondering if she is ready for it . I had it previously bookmarked and now the page won't come up. Can someone send me the link?
Right now easy is

Up 6/6:30
Eat 7
Act 6-9/9:30
Sleep 9/9:30-11
Eat 11
Act 11-3
Eat-3
Sleep 3-4:30
Act 4:30-7:30
Sleep 7:30
.... I've noticed that this past week she has been waking more earlier each day... Today she was up at 5:30....needless to say I pushed her nap out to 9am... She has also been waking a few times in the night ... Bout 3/4 times ( we are visiting so I'm not sure if it's the new place or what is causing her to wake) she looks to be teething so I give Advil before bed and a good bed lunch as well. Supper is at 5:30.... And then she gets cereal at 6:45... And a bottle at 7pm.

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated !

Here you go, honey
From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)

At the moment, her A times are on the lower side, so I think dropping to one nap is a while away. But that doesn't mean a push in A times isn't in order:) Of course I would suggest you rule out all other possibilities before pushing because you are getting long naps with this time, so it is working. The new place definitely might be a factor OR if there is anything disturbing her early in the morning - more light, birds chirping..anything new.
Early Waking
10 reasons (other than hunger) a baby can wake at night

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info! It's quite a read!! Not going to lie it looks a bit daunting to move to the 2-1 nap haha!! Today she woke at 5:40... Had a nap from 9-10:30 and another nap from 3-4:30... Since she woke early she will be in bed by 7pm... It should be earlier but she gets her last bottle at 7...
I find if she has a good morning nap she can go longer in the afternoon ( today 4 1/2 hrs) which I know I have to be careful with because she will be OT if I'm not careful. I'm pushing her naps out now as we speak ... Right now she is about 3:20hrs before her first nap in the morning so I find she is ready for her first nap in the morning but I can push out her afternoon much easier (if that makes sense?)

Well, 3 hours day sleep should be fine for even a 13 hour day. If possible, try to figure out how much day sleep she needs in a 12 hour day. Sometimes, EWs could be because of too much day sleep and not enough A time. How much does she sleep in 24 hours? For instance, at around this age, my DD needed between 2 & 2.5 hours day sleep + 12 hours at night = 14- 14.5 hours totally. More than 2.5 hours would mess up the night as would too less. If I was getting short naps, I would reduce the length of day. Your day seems fine though, even with the EW. I would have stuck to that myself.

You definitely are heading towards the 2-1. What you have described is a common scenario. Good luck! It's a tricky transition. Watch out for OT
