Am I crazy to consider one nap at 9 months??
« on: June 03, 2015, 00:54:08 am »
Hi everyone. Dd will be 9 months in a week.

Sleep has gone up the creek for us. Days and nights are bad...yesterday and today our naps have been 30 mins, and I think these are under tired naps.

The reason is that I've been putting her in with 3h 15 m A time because to have longer A time doesn't allow me to do school pickup- I need her to have second nap in the car and I can't get that if she's slept long/late in the morning. So short A time.

If I pushed her out, I think she could easily do 4 hours A time- but then I couldn't fit a second nap.

Is it worth trying For a long nap once a day? I will cry if I hold her out and then she does a short nap though!!!

Has anyone ever considered the 2:1 at 9 months?!

We started at 7 months but this is a long transition so you would probably need to go for a catnap along with that am nap:)

Has she always been lower sleep needs? We did go cold turkey to one nap super early with DD3 (7.5 months) but she is a very odd case! DD1 was 11 months and DD2 was 10 months, also cold turkey (lol I am not so good at playing around with A times & naps, lucky my kids took it in stride!).  You might have luck alternating between one and two nap days.

Thank you for your replies :)

Honestly...I'm not 100% sure she's low sleep needs...some days she does like to sleep, that's just not very often! Earlier this week nap 1 was 1h+ and in the last two days it's suddenly become 30 mins. Admittedly she doesn't seem very tired. I have only done it because I need to fit that second nap with school pickup.

I'm going to try pushing her to longer A time tomorrow and see if I can get a long middle of the day nap. Thanks!
