What to do when EASY becomes EASAE??
« on: June 18, 2015, 20:36:07 pm »
Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has advice for me- I have an 8 week old and we have been following EASY for a few weeks.  Any tips for when her nap ends before it's time for the next eating period?  IE she eats, stays awake for an hour, sleeps for an hour, and then isn't due to eat for another 45 mins or so?  Should i just feed her right away when she wakes up or keep her awake and active until its time to eat?

Thanks!!!!

Hi welcome to BW forums :)

It's fine to have EASAEAS.
She may last until her next feed time or she might need to take the feed a little earlier, as she is not asleep she is
a) more aware of getting hungry
and
b) using up more calories by being awake

So it's ok if the feed comes a bit early but you also do not need to feed exactly when she wakes if she is not due.

The point of the EASE is to separate eating from sleeping with some activity time so you avoid a feed-to-sleep habit.
If your EASY routine goes a bit off track don't worry, look out for any E times which might end up bumping into an S time and feed a little early to give her time to eat before she gets too sleepy, a quick nappy change is enough to separate E and S.

hope this helps
