I'm new to this forum, and the Baby Whisper method. My 5 Month old son was waking every two to three hours. After reading the book, it looks like we did way too much "accidental" parenting. However this method has been a godsend over the past few days. My son seemed to take to it very well. The first night was a struggle and 45 minutes of PU/PD to get him to sleep initially, then an hour and a half when he woke at 3 am. After that things got MUCH better. Laid him down awake for naps and waked out of the room, and he put himself to sleep. He was still waking once or twice during the night but self soothing back to sleep about half the time. The other half the time, I would go in and pat him gently for a few minutes and he was out again. He has been HW at 3 am and 5 am (wake up time is 6 am due to my job), which I was going to try the wake to sleep this weekend to deal with that issue.
Anyway, I have been doing everything at night this week with my DS until last night, when my DH gave me a break. He didn't want to go down and then was up 5 - 6 times throughout the night for him. Is this an expected regression when doing the training, or is it because we broke the routine and Daddy was the one taking care of him. If it is that, how do we gently ease him into having both Mom and Dad doing the night time routine?
Thank you in advance for your help!
