Hot days and nights - what do you do?
« on: September 13, 2015, 03:02:51 am »
A bit of a late question as we are approaching fall but i am wondering what other parents are doing for their little one to cool them down? I dont like opening the windows because we live close to a noisey street and lights flood in and i want the room pitch black for my DD. I turn on the fan and put her in a sleeveless onsie and a very thin sleep sack (otherwise she gets her legs trapped between bed posts). But i dont want to keep her fan on all night. Also i shut her room door to shut out sounds from tv and keep room dark but this also seem to increase her room temp :(

Any tips are greatly aporeciated!

TIA!!!

I don't know how warm it is where are, but we've put our LOs to bed in just a nappy before. My little boy's room was regularly sat at around 30 degrees C the summer he was born.  We've also used a fan but I did leave it on all night.

Thx for your reply!

I guess putting her in a nappy and the sleep sack is a good option.  Does where you live get chilly at night so if you leave baby in nappy do you need to go put on some clothes for her in the middle of the night?

The temperature in his room only drops by a couple of degrees over night  (his room really retains the heat really well). Now if he's fallen asleep on top of his duvet  (he's 2.5 year old now,  I put a blanket over him when I check on him at 10ish.

Summers are hot here, 45 degrees. We slept with wide open windows. And on very hot nights we had the air conditioning on. She slept in just a nappy. Sometimes in shirt or something light,  a sheet to cover her in case it gets chilly.

Hi there,
we also have the worst summer ever, almost 2 months with AC on 24\7
When my LO was with us in our room we always had AC on and she was in a sleeveless onesie and a thin blanket - otherwise she would sweat during the night but that's something we learned over time.

When she moved to her own room she has a ceiling fan on all night, and we only cover her with a very very thin cloth (like a big Burp cloth).

I turn on the fan and put her in a sleeveless onsie and a very thin sleep sack (otherwise she gets her legs trapped between bed posts).
I would think a sleep sack just makes it hotter wouldn't it? for us we use a bed bumper all around the bed so her legs don't get trapped.
