Help! 14 mo old transition?
« on: April 01, 2016, 20:43:27 pm »
Hi, my 14 mo old naps have gone crazy!  She has been refusing the 2nd nap, so I've been thinking she is ready to go to 1.  But the problem is that the 1st nap is only about 1 hr 15 min.  Up until a couple weeks ago, she was consistently napping for 1.5 hr and 45 min.

It seems like she has been overtired for 3 or 4 days now!  I'll admit her schedule has gone crazy too over the past week.  I haven't been sticking close enough to putting her down at the same times each day because I've been trying to figure out what times work.  Today I decided we will stick with 11:30 for first nap & see if that helps.  So today has gone like this:
7:00 wake
7:30 BF
8:00 E
10:30 snack
11:30 S
12:45 wake
1:00 E
4:00 down for nap but still awake at 4:30

Yesterday she slept from 11:00-12:15 for the first & only nap.  The day before that I tried giving her an early lunch at 11:15 and then nap was from 12:00-12:45.  That was a bad idea!  I was hoping that she would take a nice long nap.  I've been putting her to bed earlier.  I used to start the bedtime process (pj's, books) at 7:30, but have been doing it by 7:15.  TIA!

Hi there, this translation to 1 nap is hard and a bit of a go with the flow one to be honest.

We ended up pretty much having set nap times and just using CN 20 mins around 4pm (had to be apop) or EBT if that failed.

I'd push that nap a little later until your getting to middle of her day to see if nap lengthens and it can take time for that to happen. If you get less than 1.5 hour nap bring BT earlier.

If you think she's really OT you could shoot for a 6/6.30 BT to see if she will tack on from the day sleep that's been missed x

Thank you!  Yesterday she was at her Grandma & Pop's house.  They said she wasn't tired at 11:30, so she had lunch first then slept from 12:30-2:30.(sometimes it works!) Today I gave her lunch at 12, & put her down at 12:30.  She slept for about 1 hr 20 min.  So I guess we'll stick with 12:30.  My only concern with that is that sometimes it doesn't seem like she'll be able to last that long.  I'm sure the EBT will help with that though.

I put her to bed a little early on Sunday, down at 7:15.  She slept until about 7:45 mon am and was in a great mood.  Then, Monday gave her lunch at noon, put her down at 12:30 & she slept from 12:50-3:15!  I was soooooo happy!!!  Every day hasn't been like that, but we're slowly getting the hang of it.  I really want to be consistent, but I just put her down for nap at 11:20 because she was very tired.  I knew she wouldn't make it until after lunch.  She fell asleep within a couple minutes.  So, I guess we'll just have to play it by ear for now, and at some point we will be consistently at the 12:30 nap time.  I definitely see what you mean about it being go with the flow.  Thanks again!

Well, we've only had 2 days with a good 2.5 hr nap.  Every other day has been 1.5 like clockwork.  I had always pictured the one nap a day being longer!  Oh well.

Hi I am going through the same thing with my 13 month old at the moment.  The problem is if we go in the car or in the pram in the morning, even if it is a 10 minute snooze she is up for almost 4 hours in the afternoon! With one nap days it has been hit and miss with nap time varying from 1hr 20 to 2hrs 30!!! her night wakings are all over the place at the moment i'm shattered!
