What is a typical day of a 6 month old like
« on: January 16, 2017, 01:47:00 am »
What is a typical easy routine of a 6 month old? As far as A times, naps and nap lengths, how many bottles and how many solid feeds? Is the day about 12 hours? Do they follow a 4 hr easy by then? Thanks so much.

There are samples here
Sample EASY Routines from 0 - 13mths+

Often 3hr A time
2 naps
4 day bottles plus 1 at night = 5 in 24hr
1 or 2 solids feeds

All LOs are different of course.  Some like longer A times some shorter.

The problem I'm having is that he's moved to a 4 hour easy now that he's having 2 meals sometimes a small third but he's waking at 6 having a bottle at 630 then again after his nap around 1030/11 then the third at 230 ish then the fourth at 630 before bed at 7. But instead of his usual wake up around 430/530 he's waking around 1230/130 to eat (that fifth bottle) then up for the day at 6!

Today he was up at 130 had a bottle back robbed up at 6 first nap fell asleep in car school run transfered him to crib slept 910/15-10 so about 45 mins when the last few days it was 2 hours in crib no school run. Then he won't go down until 3 for next nap almost 4 hours A time until about 4-430.
Today he napped 45 mins 915-10 so he was tired and I put him down at 1215 but I'll have to wake him after 30 mins for school run. So hopefully he'll take another nap at 3.

So his easy looks like this:
A 6 am
E 630 bottle 730 solids
S 9-10 or 11 1 hr- 2 hr nap he's still unpredictable
A 1030 (could be 10 or 11)
E  1045 bottle solids 12
S 2-3 lately of he naps 2 hours in morning his A time is almost 4 hours going down at 3
So this nap could be 230-330 or 3-430
E 4 bottle 5 solids
A either 330-630 or 430-7
E 630 4th bottle
S630/7- 130 am
A 130 bottle back to bed
A 6 up for the day

Looks okay to me.  It's quite normal to have a NF at 6 months either as a DF or when baby wakes for it in the night.
Looks like you're managing nap lengths well when the nap is unpredictable length :)

Ok so I shouldn't try to be getting that 5th bottle in during the day? FYI before he started 4 hr easy and 2-3 solid meals he wouldn't wake for night feed just the ew at 430-530 am. So I'm not sure that this is progress lol

4 day bottles plus 1 at night = 5 in 24hr
the 5th bottle is not intended to be in the day.

FYI before he started 4 hr easy and 2-3 solid meals he wouldn't wake for night feed just the ew at 430-530 am.
I would still kind of consider 4.30 a need to eat in the night as it is so early.  If you feel solids have impacted considerably you can cut back again, maybe 2 solids meals and leave the evening open for more milk.

The last Bottle before bed he usually drinks all of if though so I don't think that would make much of a difference there. It's just odd to me that with better nails plus solids that he'd be staring to wake at night. Just doesn't make sense to me. After that second nap being so early today 12:15-1240 I can't get him down for another nap but I don't know how he'll make it until bedtime.

The food intake over the day isn't just about how much milk he takes at BT. He can take it all but still need to wake in the night for milk either because he needs it or because he didn't take enough in the day. I mentioned it because you have moved to 3 meals and noted the night feeds changed.
LOs can wake at night when solids are introduced either with gas or it can be because the calorie intake has dropped due to solids rather than more milk being taken.  Either way - it is quite typical of a 6 month old.

Ok I see. Just thought it would be the opposite lol. Right now we are at two meals about 4-6 tbsp each meal. As I introduce a third meal eventually should I expect more nws? As of now he goes to sleep around 630/7 wakes around 130/230 feeds then up again around 6 or earlier for the day. Naps are still inconsistent can be 30 mins or 2 hours usually 3-3.5 hrs A time both naps can be 4!

OK, your EASY showed 3 solids meals so I'll assume you have decided to cut back to 2 again for now.
The 3rd solids meal (often introduced around 8 months) may or may not lead to more NWs, it depends on the LO.  I always tried to do solids as early as possible to leave as long as possible between the solids and BT.  For us it was solids around 4-4.30pm and BT 7pm for instance so that there was a good couple of hours where gas could work it's way out, it also left a good amount of time for Lo to get more hungry and take good BT milk.
