10mo dropping a bf?
« on: May 12, 2018, 06:15:19 am »
Dd is 10mo now and I’ve been reading the faqs to see what the next steps are regarding bf. Looks like now is the time to replace one bf with a snack to slowly start moving towards solids being her main source of nutrition, am I right?
She bf now 7am, solids 9am,  11am bf, solids 1.30pm, bf 3pm, small bf 5-6pm, dinner solids 6.30, bf 7.45pm. So I drop the small bf at 5 and do a snack instead or do I keep bf on demand and she should start decreasing bf on her own nearing 1yo?

It's up to you really.  The official advice from WHO is to continue breastfeeding on demand but many people do like to reduce bfs around this age. You certainly don't have to.  It's still a fantastic source of nutrients and antibodies.

Ok, thx. I will try reduce slowly then, so it’s not such a shock when she turns one. She gets 6-7 in 24h now, so 5-6in the 10th month and then 4-5 in the 11th, aiming for 3 after the age of one (assuming one will be a NF)
Her solids intake is still pants on most days, maybe this will help up it a bit.
