A question about how much lo is eating
« on: August 25, 2005, 07:10:34 am »
On page 185 of "Secrets of a Baby Whisperer how to calm, connect and communicate with your baby"  (at the bottom of the page) under the heading use a pacifier Tracy says use a dummy to wean the baby off nightime feeds as long as he "weighs ten pounds and hes consuming at least 25 to 30 ounces of food during the daytime feeds".

My question is does that include the dreamfeed?

Can anyone help    :?

A question about how much lo is eating

My son is 8 weeks today and around the same weight as your lo. I used to feed him at 2:00 AM everyday.  I just started giving him 25 oz (10 lbs * 2.5 oz) during the day including the dream feed.  Now when he wakes up anytime between 1:00 and 3:00, I try to shhhh him and make him sleep until 4:00/ 4:30  Sometimes, I don't sleep for an hour or 2. But I hope it will help eventually. I just started doing this 3 days ago.
Foll. is the schedule I am trying to implement.

E: 4:30 - 4:50 AM (Like a dream feed)
S: 4:50 : 7:30 AM
E: 7:30 - 7:50
A: 7:50 - 9:00 (Getting ready and reaching the daycare)
S: 9:00 - 10:30
E: 10:30 - 10:50
A: 10:50 - 12:00
S: 12:00 - 1:30
E: 1:30 - 1:50
A: 1:50 - 3:00
S: 3:00 - 4:30
E: 4:30 - 4:50
A: 4:50 - 6:30 (I'll be Picking him up)
(Cat nap somewhere between 5:00 and 6:00 for 40 minutes)
At present he just cries and doesn't take that nap Sad
E: 6:30 - 7:00
A: 7:00 - 7 :30 (bath and getting ready to bed)
S: 7:30 - 9:30
E: 9:30 - 9:50 (DF)
Sleep until 4:30

Each feed I give 3.5 oz except DF I give 4 oz.

Hope this helps.
Jo

Thanks for the tip.  My lo follows roughly the same routine. Last night my she went to sleep at 7.10pm, my bf gave her the dreamfeed at 11pm and she woke at 2.45am I gave her her dummy and she slept until 4am, and she woke at 6am because of the light coming through the window. I am getting her used to her cot now, so soon I will be putting her in her own bedroom (with a blackout blind) so hopefully she wont wake at 6am.
