New to EASY and feed lengths
« on: August 27, 2005, 11:31:30 am »
We've just tried to start the EASY routine. DD slept from about 9am to 1130 and then started to cry in her sleep. We woke her (as per BW) with a nappy and clothes changes and she got grumpy. She settled down to feed but fell asleep and would not be roused or return to the breast after only 10 minutes feeding. When I put her down she fussed and cried. I offered the breast again but she wasn't interested and has now fallen asleep (though that may be shortlived - it often is!) I would have thought she would be hungrier after a longish nap. Any thoughts?

It can take a while to settle in.  Is this your first day on EASY?  Give her a few days to get the hang of it. Just keep trying to get her to take a full feed when she DOES eat - exactly like you were doing.  Do you find she's sleeping more during the day than at night?  She's not quite 2 months, so her awake time during the day will still be quite short - probably less than an hour.  But she also is getting more efficient at feeding, so 10 minutes may be enough for a full feed.  Is she also burping well?  Sometimes if they have gas, they cry in their sleep and wake early.
