Suggestions for wind down and routine for daytime naps
« on: April 09, 2007, 20:27:49 pm »

Have good routine in the evenings but could someone give advice re: wind down for daytime naps as I feel at moment am sometimes just scooping her up saying `tired sleepy sleep time` and then taking to room and putting in cot is not enough cues for her.

How old is your little one.  When Tyler was about 8 months old we started reading a quick book before his nap.  It was called "I can take a nap" with Miss Piggy "telling" the story.  It was only about 8 pages and took 2 minutes to read.  It is to the point where we tell him to find his "nigh nigh" book and he pulls it out.  ;)

Hi there - please don't feel stupid.

To be honest, I do that with Jasmine - just pick her up when its 5mins away from nap time and in to bed. She winds down on her own. Its only when she needs her A times to be extended that I take a little longer and walk around with her etc... to calm her down before a nap.

Don't feel stupid.  It took me MONTHS to figure out that Tyler needed a nap wind down just like at night time.

GOOD LUCK!
