8mo new to crawling and likes to practice at 3am!

Hi,
i'm not sure if there is anything I can do about this but ds started crawling last week and since then has been waking at around 2.30/3 and is usuall awake for about 2 hours.

When he wakes it usually starts with happy babbling so I don't go in to his room but then after about 15 minutes it progresses to cries for help because his head or leg is stuck in an awkward position and then he cries.  I usually change him at this point and put him back to bed and the cycle seems to continue for a couple of hours.

I only go into his room when he is distressed and don't pick him up.  He weighs about 12kg or about 26lb so PU/PD is not something I think my back can cope with.  He wears a sleeping bag to bed and I turn on his soft sleepytime music box each time I go in to settle him.

Is there something I should be doing or will things improve when the novelty wears off.  I'm starting to dread when he can pull himself up aaaah!

hi, I just wanted to say it is nice to see someone who has the same problem as me my ds has been doing this since he was 4 months old he is now 6 months cant craw if you put him on the floor but as soon as he hits the mattress off he goes. I cant offer you a solution I'm afraid though I would say things have improved this end since we have started to swaddle him. (he hated this at birth) we keep one arm in the blanket and leave the other free as Tracy suggested and then as an extra (my MIL hated the idea but within 2 nights was doing it) we put a pillow/cushion either side of his legs so he is wedged in. He can still move if he  wants to but he has to put in that extra bit of effort. We used to be up 7/8 times an hour this has now reduced to max 4 times a night. Maybe you could try this it might work.
