« on: January 12, 2006, 12:57:00 pm »
I don't know shy, but all of the sudden my 7 month old has been fighting her naps. I have tried everything!!!!!!!! exteding 15 min at a time. nothing is working.

this is her schedule. or her usual schedule. she is fighting me to go down and then when she does sleep it is only for 30 min. occ 1.5 hours maybe once per day, but only occ.
I have also tried keeping her up and until she shows me tired signs and then she gets overtired. what do I do? is she trying to adjust her naps to fewer a day.

up at 6-7ish
bottle
activity
8-solids
nap 9-9:30 ish if I am lucky 9:45
activity
bottle at 11:30
nap after that
solids
activity
bottle at 3:30
nap after that
solids
bath
watches baby einstein
book
bottle
bed at 7

she usually had 2.25-2.30 hours of awake time then goes down for a nap. the past 4 days she has not kept to this scheduld at all. her eating times are all the same, but naps are not at all. I cannot extend her naps jsut end up stimulating her. please help.....

not sure if this is effecting her schedule, but she tends to take her long nap at 3:30 of 1.5 hours. I think this may be the problem because she goes down at night and sleeps 12 hours. this may make her not tired at all during the am for her naps, thus throughing her whole day off. what should I do wake her at that nap? how do I get her to take her long nap in the early afternoon instead?

Hi -

We are facing a similar problem here with my 7.5 month old dd.  I am still trying to figure out what to do but I had some thoughts about your situation.

When she wakes up after 30 minutes, is she happy or upset (clearly still tired)?  If she seems happy, then maybe that is all she needs?

Also, you said you tried increasing her activity time by 15 minutes.  For some babies, increasing by a whole 15 minutes is too much for them and it needs to be done more incrementally.  Like an extra 5 minutes one day, the next 10 minutes, etc. etc.  Maybe that extra 15 minutes is getting her overtired?

Is her 3:30 nap interfering with her going down for the night?  I ask this as you said you wanted her to nap longer in the early afternoon and was wondering why you feel that nap must be longer.

I don't know if I have helped at all, but thought I would give it a shot!  I feel your pain!  Good luck and let us know how you get on.

her 3:30 pm nap does not interfer with bedtime, but it does interfer with naptime the next morning. she has had too much sleep. I don't mind how long her nap is in the early afternoon, I just do not want her to take her longest nap in the late day. it effects the next morning's nap. Sorry if confusing. I will try and extend her A time.

when she gets up after 30 min she is happy. she has never been a huge napper. I don't mind that, just having trouble reading her. she never shows me tired signs and I really want to keep her on a schedule so her tired times are all the same not all over the place.

she did ok this am. went down for an hour :D I'll just have to wing it. It may have something to do with the age. I have heard this a lot for many people. haha. thanks for your help.
