help 5 month old eating every 2 hrs!
« on: December 11, 2005, 10:54:50 am »
hi,
I had Jake on a 4 hr easy before intorducing solids 4 weeks ago(early I know, but went with my instinct).I am feeding like this;

7 am bottle
9 am breakfast ceral/ fruit
11 am bottle
1.00 pm lunch
3.00pm bottle
5.00pm dinner
7.00pm bottle and bed

This schedule is killing me, I've 2 other children, but I can't remember how to start condensing this down.HELP!
Jake seems to be taking less at his "in between" solids bottles, so something has to give!

Feeding Every Two Hours

Hi there,

I had a similar problem where my 5 month old just was not interested in his bottles at all and this was only when he had just ahd 1 tsps of food as a taster.  I found a schedule which took a couple of days to get into (one day good and one day bad), but it seems to be working a treat now - I was worried at one stage that my lo was having too much, but it seems to work for him.

Our daily schedule is as follows:-  In the UK the recommended minimum amount of forumula intake is 20oz

7:00am - Bottle 7-8oz, 3tsps of cereal, with 2 tsps of Fruit
11:30 - Lunch - Small Bottle of 3-4oz with 4-6 tsps of vegetable puree
2:00 - 2:30 - Bottle 5-6oz
5pm - Dinner - 5-6tsp of vegetable puree (with small drink of baby juice)
7:00 - Bottle 8oz

So far so good - this schedule seems to be working out and our lo is now finishing all his milk - taking roughly 27oz a day with his food.

Let me know how it goes.

Take care
