What to do for sleeping in (oops)??? Move naps, feeds?
« on: February 15, 2006, 16:17:50 pm »
Hi,

Dd was up today for around an hour at 6 am.  When I finally got her to sleep, I figured she would just wake me up because she's usually pretty consistent.  Well 40 mins after her normal wake-up she hadn't called for me yet so I got her up.  Not that I mind sleeping in... ;D

I just wonder know if I should adjust the whole day? Does that mean she would go to bed later?

This is the ideal we're working towards

E - 7:30 am wake up, bf and solids
A-2.5 hours
S-10 am (1.5 hours)

E-11:30am bf and solids
A-2.5 hours
S-2 pm (1.5 hours)

E-3:30 bf
A-2 hours
S-5 or 5:30 catnap if short naps earlier

E-5:30 bf and solids
A-2 hours
E-7:30 pm bf
A-wind-down, etc.
S-8 pm down for night (well until 2 am)

She is sleeping now, but it took over an hour for her to even go to sleep (because I tried for 10 am) and now I don't know whether to wake her up on time or shift everything according to her wake-up!?!

Please help, I don't want to mess her all up for the day.

Thanks.
Kim

At 9 mos, she should be able to go with the flow pretty well.  If it were me, I'd wake her at the usuall time, have lunch at the usuall time, and then try to get the second nap back on track.  If it took her an hour to go to sleep (something I'm dealing with right now), by the time you wake her she wouldn't have slept very long and might be tired enough to do a proper afternoon nap.  I wouldn't think you'll have to change bedtime.  I think babies are more affected by total amount of sleep moreso than when they get it (day and night time separate).
