NOT WANTING TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!
« on: March 01, 2006, 18:45:51 pm »
My daughter just turned five months old and for the last month or so she does not want to sleep at night. She goes to bed between 8 and 9 everynight and is now waking up between 11 and 12. It will take about an hour or so to get her back to sleep and then she is up again within a half hour and this continues all night. She doesn't nap to much during the day so we know that is not the problem. When she wakes up she is usually wide awake, happy, and wanting to play at first. As the night goes on she wakes up crankier. We have tried thickening formula and baby food right before bed because we thought she might be hungry, but unfortunately that did not work either. To get her to go back to sleep we give her a pacifier and turn on her mobile but she either will cry when she spits the pacifier out or she will be so awake that just continues to lay there wide awake. I also tried feeding her but that doesn't help. She used to sleep through the night, and we are ready to pull our hair out. Does any one have any suggestions?

It sounds to me like she might be overtired. Have you tried extending naps during the day?

Hi, it does sound as though you lo may be overtired, but there may be other reasons affecting her sleep too. Can you post her routine, adn we'll take a look at it?
