Late afternoon nap? Should I wake?
« on: April 15, 2006, 19:19:35 pm »
My 9 month daughter is finally on a great sleep schedule as of this week. She sleeps from 6:15 until 4:30am, then 4:45 until 6:15am. This is wonderful for us. However, her naps are still not settled. She didn't fall to sleep for her afternoon nap until 3:00pm. Can I wake her so that she can keep her nighttime sleep schedule? I'd like to wake her at 3:30. S...O....S and thanks in advance!

From what I have read in the BW books and the questions that I have asked on this site....I think you are correct in waking your dd at 3:30 to keep her on her night schedule. You are essentially "setting" her internal sleep clock.

Good Luck! ;D

Thanks! And just in time. I've already started the process by opening the blinds and telling my husband that he doesn't have to whisper anymore so maybe she'll wake on her own. Thanks for answering so quickly!

I don't let my DD sleep longer than 4.15pm to safe her bedtime. I usually put her down at 2.45pm for her PM nap and i find she hardly ever sleeps longer than 1.5hrs anyway as she has her bigger sleep in the morning.
