Strange sleep pattern suddenly
« on: April 30, 2006, 14:38:04 pm »
Ben just turned 4 months old, is on a 3 hour EASY (getting ready to gear up for a 4 hour EASY), and has ALWAYS been a great sleeper. For the past month or so he's been sleeping 11 - 13 hours straight.

Well. Since getting his 4 month shots on Friday Ben's sleep has been SO messed up! He woke up Saturday morning around 3.30/4am and wouldn't go back down until 5.30am, even after a feeding (he finished his bottle.) This is pretty much unheard of. Ben always went right back down through the night effortlessly.

And last night... OMG.

I put him down at 7pm, and he woke at 9pm, midnight, 3am, and up for the day at 6.30am.

He woke up THREE TIMES before it was time to get up for the day. He seemed hungry and I fed him at 9pm and midnight so I fed him. Both times he took 4oz from his 6oz bottles. At 3am I just tucked him back in, gave him his receiving blanket, and some gripe water for good measure. Seemed to do the trick. I guess if all else fails, get them drunk?  ;)

No idea what gives here, but I'm interested in hearing theories.

Thanks!

REALLY unsettled from the shots?  Maybe try scheduled doses of gripe water for a day or so?
When you're soaring through the air, I'll be your solid ground.  Take every chance you dare.  I'll still be there when you come back down.

I think you're right. He slept through last night, and hopefully again tonight so I'll know if he's back to normal. He didn't react this way to his 2 month shots, so it really threw me for a loop!

Thanks for the reply. :)
