Weaning leading to Separation Anxiety?
« on: May 07, 2006, 19:13:32 pm »
Well, DD is almost 1, and I have been weaning slowly over the last few weeks. Really taking her lead, and simply now offering. We are down to the morning feed only (and now occasional night feeding die to increased night wakings. DD is VERy clingy since the past 2 weeks, so I feel that the weaning is leading to SA.

Do any of you have experience with this? What are some possible solutions?

TIA, Beata

It is hard to say if the weaning is causing the SA or if it just happening because she is at the age that it happens.  Does that make sense?

If you are taking your lo's lead on dropping feeds than I would think that she would be ok with it as she is the one who is refusing the feeds.

I would suggest trying to give her some special "mommy" time every day and see if that helps at all.  Many babies go through seperation anxiety around a year of age.  I unfortunately don't have much experience with it as Carter doesn't seem to have had any (he won't even say bye to me when I drop him off at daycare because he loves it so much  :().

HUGS to you though ... I recently went through the whole weaning thing and it is an emotional roller coaster  :(.  Congrats on bf'ing for a year!  What an accomplishment!
