Newborn evening catnap question
« on: May 15, 2006, 04:01:33 am »
My 8wo tends to have a 1.5 hour nap for her 4th nap.  I notice most people's LOs have catnaps during this time.  Could this be contributing to the nightwakings?  Also, if it SHOULD be a catnap, do I wake her after 45mins?  She is formula fed and here is her schedule
7am eat
activity
8am sleep
10am eat
activity
11:15 sleep
1pm eat
activity
2pm sleep
activity
4pm eat
activity
5pm sleep
6:30 bath, bottle, bed
10:30pm dream feed
2:30 night waking and awake until a hunger cry around 3 or 3:30

How many nightwakings is she having? At only 8 weeks old, I don't think it's bad to have a long catnap if she's only waking one or two times out of hunger...

At 8 weeks night wakings are pretty normal. How many does your LO have? If she's waking up at 2:30 I'd suggest you feed her right away, I wouldn't actually wait for a hunger cry if she's staying awake, as this can lead to her becomeing overtired or even mixing her days with her nights.
Your routine looks pretty good to me, I like that you have a bedtime routine and early betime too :) I'm impressed.
