Day sleep different to night sleep??
« on: May 20, 2006, 01:09:52 am »
Hi,
This is mainly for Matthews Mommy - I saw i the post about teaching sleep to newborns and infants that you said that day sleep is different to night sleep. How? I've ordered Tracy's second book TBWSAYP and am waiting for it to arrive, perhaps it answers that question in it? I'm one of those people who really likes to know the reasons behind things and so I'm keen to shed a little light on why my 5.5wk old LO can seem to sleep so well at night and yet have such issues napping for long enough during the day.
TIA
Anna

Thanks Stacy, so my next question is whether babies can forget a good sleep pattern.

If during the first 3 months they work on their night sleep (DS already has great sleep at night, right from his first few days), can they 'forget' later on, and sort of relapse? I'm just loving the fact that DS sleeps so well at night, but do find myself worrying that it could all go out the window at a moments notice...

And the same with the napping thing- At only 6 weeks old, we're already needing to work on this one- if they usually sort their naps between 3 and 6 months, is there a chance that he could forget it in a few months time and have to be retaught it?

I obviously spend way too much time worrying about things that might not happen ::) , but I'd still like to know...

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to make the most of the good nights while we have them! At least I've got these message boards and everyone's wonderful advice and support here to help out if things go to pot  :)
