pat-shush question for 8-week old
« on: May 23, 2006, 00:46:09 am »
For an 8-week old, if you are pat-shushing the baby in the crib and have them rolled onto their side, how do you get them on to their back?  I wait for her to fall asleep while patting her back, but each time I try to ease her onto her back, while still patting her side she startles and we have to start over again.  We went through this 5 or 6 times tonight.  Maybe I'm not giving enough time?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I'd be inclined to leave her on her side, or at least until she is in a deep sleep, after about 20 mins before attempting to move her.
Swaddling may help with startles, and just make sure you watch her for her sleepy cues, so that you put her down before she gets overtired.
