What are your two year old's favorite toys??
« on: May 16, 2006, 22:56:04 pm »
What are your two year old's favorite toys??  And, which ones do you recommend?
I love toys that can do more than one thing; so, they keep their interest in them longer.  So, I'm curious which toys you've and/or your lil ones are loving.   :D

Nathan loves his tricycle....he spends most of his time riding in the house when we can't go outside, or riding up and down the sidewalk!

Balls - any kind, - basketballs, soccer balls, or baseballs.

Cars and trucks - oh, and trains!  He'll line them up on the table and make them "VRROOOOMM"!!!  He has Thomas trains that connect and have a track as well.

Books - he loves to "read" them to us.

I know none of these are multi-functional toys, but these are his fav's right now!

Tyler's really into coloring books these days, but he goes back to his old standby - trains - every so often. The trains are great because they really stimulate his imagination. He has a train table with a bunch of Thomas trains and tracks on it and we'll often hear him re-enacting episodes of Thomas or making up little stories with them.

My son loves Thomas The Train and plays with them everyday.  He also plays with the Word Whammer (magnetized to stick on the fridge).  He pushes the letters, listens, and follows the alphabets.  He has learned to read all of the alphabets from this.  People are really amazed.

Ruby just loves her stuffies (stuffed animals!) Oh my word she is obsessed with them! She will play for ages with them, making up games and stories galore!

She loves playdough and we have loads of 'tools' to make it more exciting!

She has a Vtech LeapPad (the one from age 3-5) which she loves to play with. Again she will play on her own with this for an hour or so.

She has tea set and a load of play-food which are played with non-stop! These really are multi-fuctional as they can be played with in so many ways and games.

Domino games are another one she loves. We have a set that has barnyard animals on one side and the traditional 'spots' on the other.

My little man has just started to play with lego bricks, he is making trains for his ted ted, as like the other replies he loves Thomas.
Also, while not a toy we are reaching an obsession stage with the author Lauren Child, her Charlie and Lola series are some of the best childrens books ever !!

Nathan rides his trike?  How old was he when he started riding it on his own?  Braeden likes to ride his but with his feet on the ground instead of the pedals.  It's like he own Fred Flinstone bike.  ;)  When I try to get him to try the pedals he says, "nooooo!"  hehe

Lots of Thomas the tank engine lovers on here too, love it!:D  I thought maybe we were one of the few, but it must be popular with most boys.  And I agree, they're great!  :) Their books are pretty good too.  Their websites not too bad either.

He likes a lot of those other toys too.  It's easy for us to lose pieces sometimes to some of this stuff though!  With two boys, theres so much.  I need to organze it better, but when??   :-\   ;) I'm hoping to sometime soon though, hopefully~!

Our two year old loves books, being read to and 'reading' to us. He also loves playing with his kitchen and his little buggy pretending to go shopping and making dinner! He loves his trains and his cars. He loves his aqua draw map too. Oh and play dough.
