please help me get rid of my bottle
« on: May 24, 2006, 11:08:02 am »
I am trying to phase out the bottle and give the cup - I got one and I know he can drink out of it cause he did the first few times I offered it - so what I was trying was offering the milk in the cup first and have him drink as much as he will and then finish the rest with the bottle - bt now he won't even drink from it he refuses until he gets his bottle!!  How did you guys phase out your bottle and give more milk in the cup???

Any ideas or strategies?

thanks

i'm not going to be much help, our dd had gastro when she was 11 months and wouldn't drink her bottles so she gave them up cold turkey (she was having 2) and she just loved her cup... first we used an avent bottle with handles and these drinking spouts which you can put in (so then it was still her bottle but more like a cup) this worked well. then we used playtex cups they were the best!!
good luck hope someone has better advice for you, it was realitivly easy for us but that's cause she was sick!!

Is your LO  9 months like your ticker says? How many bottles does he get a day? Is he used to drinking from a cup or is this the first time you have introduced one? Sorry so many questions, but I just need a bit more info.

4 bottles a day - he is 9 months - and he usually eat about 6 -8 ozs in each - he has a cup with water at meals that he drinks out of - i bought a different Avent spout for giving him milk with - he is refusing to drink out it at all....at first he did and now he slams his mouth shut - i try and let him play with the cup so he gets familiar with itetc., but no luck yet........does that help?

thanks for your reply

I would continue to offer the cup. It takes a lot of LO's time to begin to drink out of a cup. Check out this post:
